MISSION STATEMENT
SAVE AMERICA'S CINEMAS is a 501(C)3 non-profit fundraising group solely dedicated to providing the financial assistance required to acquire the necessary digital equipment needed for approximately 3,000 small town cinemas and theaters in America. This endeavor is specifically to achieve the end result of preventing these cinemas from going out of business.
Over 3,000 cinemas and over 40,000 American jobs are in jeopardy, not to mention the livelihood of the vendors that service these cinemas. In addition to the tangible affects of this great loss, we are keenly aware of the historical, emotional and cultural damage that will be caused by the massive closings of these well established community icons that have brought joy and countless memories to generations of small town families across this great nation.
Our mission is to preserve all of these valuable cultural resources, opportunities and gifts for generations to come and the meaningful attributes it brings to millions of Americans.
As we know, time brings opportunity and great advancements… but along the way it can thrust unintentional burden upon those who can least afford it. For decades cinemas have been showing movies with 35mm film. Starting in 2013, this will no longer be the case as all movies will be shipped to cinemas and theaters across the country in digital format only. The only way to show movies to people will be to purchase digital projectors, sound systems, servers and movies screens - The Cost: Up to $100,000 per cinema. These small town cinema owners, operating on small margins and modest incomes do not have the resources to convert and will close down and fall like 3,000 dominoes collapsing across all 50 states. The tears and heartache that lie before us can be saved. Many of us in the profession owe it to these amazing people who have supported us for decades and we are fighting to give back to save America's cinemas.
Please join us in this noble cause.
We appreciate your time and for listening to our mission.
